Christmas 2011

This year was the first year that we did the nativity with Cade & Mae. They were the cutest little Mary & Joseph.

Alex & Garrett were the wisemen. Not sure what outfits they were wearing, but they were nice to play along.

Unfortunately, I didn't take any snapshots on Christmas day. But Cade had such a fun time with Christmas this year. He was really excited about what Santa had brought him & was thrilled with all his toys. His toys that he really loves are his Ultimate Optimus Prime Transformer & his Starwars Light Saber. Mae & Cade got a little kitchen from Santa. Mae's played with it the most. And she loves her baby dolls that she got.

We are so blessed and had such a wonderful Holiday Season.

Cade's Super Hero Birthday Bash!

Cade is so big and grown up, I can't believe it! Time flies & I can't believe that he is 4 already. We had a Super Hero Birthday for Cade, which included his favorites right now, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Spider Man, Batman, Superman, and Iron Man.

I did a Transformer cake & cupcakes. I really enjoy decorating my kids cakes!

The Dirty Dash

I ventured to run a 10K this Fall. Yes, that is 6.2 miles of running through mud, dipping in mud baths, through mud tunnels, wadeing in a mud swamp, sliding down mud hills...all while mud is getting splashed in your eyes. I had so much fun running it with these fine people - Garch, Jamie, Trav, and Jillble. We had a great time & I look forward to doing it again!

Grandpa Blake & Grandma Marsha, brought the kids up too see us finish. Mae didn't want to come near me with all the mud on me. She didn't recognize me at first.

California Trip

We had such a fun time in California. We went out there for my cousin Nate's wedding. We got a lot of Beach time & a lot of family time. We really are blessed to have each other. Loved it!

San Clemente Beach...Cam was feeling sick, so he was a trooper to try to make it fun.

Aunt Stacey had an Easter Party at her work. Cade had a fabulous time. Lucky Mae, she got to meet a second Easter Bunny!

My 30th Birthday!

So, my very creative hubby had a party for my 30th Birthday. He had everyone dress up as 'senior citizens' to make me feel like the youngest one at my party! It was hillarious. He built walkers for the kids & had the kids dress up to. I thought it was pretty clever! Thanks Cam I had a wonderful party!

Grizzlies Games

We've gone to a couple Grizzlies Games this year. Hockey is pretty tricky...I don't know how the players keep track of the puck because as a spectator, I can hardly keep track of it! Despite trying to keep track of the puck, it's been fun to go and watch a sport I'm not too familiar with. Fun family time!

Kindermusik with Cammy

Every week I've been going to Kindermusik class with my sister Cammy. It's so much fun & the kids love it. I think it really helps in their development skills and teaches them about rythym, music, imagination, etc... Plus we do fun activities through the whole class. Cade has his class first, then Mae & I have our 'Mommy & Me' class. My sister-in-law, Jamie, and her son, Austin, come with us too.

Jamie and I did this photo shoot with the kids in about 10 minutes. It was pretty cold, but we got some cute ones.

This photo of Cade captures his true personality. I just love this one. He is 3 1/2 years old. I can't believe it! Cade is such a good big brother to Mae & loves to entertain her and make her laugh and smile.

Mae just had her 9 month check up. She is 19lbs 2oz and in the 55th percentile for weight. She is 28 inches tall and in the 70th percentile for height. She is healthy and growing up way too fast!

Mae is such a joy to our family & is such a good baby. She still isn't sleeping through the night, but will usually sleep 5-6 hour blocks. Hopefully she'll catch on soon. She absolutely loves her older brother & lights up when she sees him. In her eyes he is the best thing that ever happened! We all love her so much!

Valentine's Day..Ouch!

Cam and I decided to go out for Valentine's Day, the Saturday before Valentine's. Well everyone else thought it was also a great idea too. Everywhere had at least an hour to wait for dinner. After, 3 restraunts and a rear-end accident, we finally made it to our 4th restraunt where we settled in for a delicious meal. And still made our movie on time. To say the least, not our best attempt at Valentine's Day.

I gave Cade a box of conversation candy hearts & told him there was a box for Mae too, but she was really too little to have them. I went into the bathroom to fill up the tub for Mae and was gone for about 30-45 seconds. When I emerged from the bathroom, I had found that Cade had given Mae her candy hearts! Yikes! Choking Hazard! Alert! Alert! She had 3 shoved in her mouth & she was holding 1 heart so tightly grasped in her fist. She got really upset at me when I had to sweep them out of her mouth and pry the one from her hand. Cade was trying to be such a nice big brother! Thanks Cade, and nice save for Mommy. Whew!

Christmas 2010

Cade told Santa that he wanted a marble thing (marble run) & a race track. Yes, Santa did deliver.

Christmas Eve, we had my parents & Alex over. It was nice. We read the Christmas story and then Cade & Mae opened up jammies. The Buzz Lightyear jammies were a hit!

Christmas Day - Cade helped EVERYONE open EVERY present! I'm not even joking. He loved it & was sad when it was all over. He still is asking me if he can open more presents. And not to mention, telling me all the toys he still wants to get.

My Grandpa Martin made this wooden Moster truck for Cade. What a treasure. He also made a wooden cradle for Mae. It is so precious.

Cade got a car track at Grandpa & Grandma Morgan's house. The trucks that went on it, were automatic & the back wheels spun to allow them to drive around the track. Well, I was bending down, and Cade had the trucks in his hands and came up behind me to give me a hug. What he didn't realize is that the rubber wheels on the trucks were wrapping around my hair very fast when he was hugging me. Here are pictures of the event. I ended up having to cut my hair because it got so tangled in the wheels. Didn't ever expect that to happen on Christmas day!

We went sledding with my cousins, Bailey & McKell. Cade had a lot of fun! Cade & I went down the hill first time around. Then the second go around, he wanted to go ALL by himself. I was more nervous than he was, I'm sure of it. But he went & was so brave. Good job Buddy!

Halloween Festivities

Gardner Village with Logan & Halle. We've gone and seen the witches every year for the past couple of years with this group of friends. The kids love it everytime & of course the kids have to go for a pony ride.

We opted to paint pumpkins this year instead of carving them, which was absolutely fine with me. Carving pumpkins required too much of my energy this year, so this worked out perfect & we didn't have to deal with a big mess...even better!

This was our attempt to be 'Halloweeny'.

Soccer Life...

This is Cade's first year of soccer. He is having a blast being a part of a team & probably does the most running on his team. The ball seems to not be the focus when he is on the field. Cade makes sure that everyone in the crowd is looking at HIM when he runs by. That is the MOST important part, didn't you know? He is the youngest on his team and is making progress as the games go by. Cade did kick the ball 4 times last game. (This is improvement from the first game.)

A few games ago, Cade kicked the ball off. He proceeded to kick it 2 more times & then as the other team approached and took the ball away, Cade came running to me crying and said, "They took the ball away from me!" He was very upset & didn't understand why the kids came and took the ball from him. It was pretty funny.

Milestones...

Mae had her 4 month check up. She weighs 14lbs and 13oz is in the 75th percentile for weight. She is 24.5" tall and is in the 55th percentile for height and is in the 55th percentile for measurment on her head. I sure love this little girl!

Cade had his 3 year old check up & he is in the 97th percentile for his height & weight. He weighs 39.2 lbs and is 40.25" tall. What a stud! I love my boy!

I can't believe that I started my 'Mommy Career' three years ago! Wow, time really does fly! I absolutely love being Cade's mom. He is extremely smart, well behaved, really entertaining, very imaginative. He is always making us laugh. He is such a joy in my life.

I had such a fun time planning Cade's party this year. Cam helped me in the production of the Alien cupcakes. I really had a blast decorating the cake & the cupcakes. Its my secret goal to be a cake decorator someday.

This trip was so much fun! We ended up driving which it took about 11 hours with the kids (potty breaks, nursing breaks, etc...) My parents squished in our little Prius & off we went. We got in pretty late to the hotel & planned on going to the beach the next day.

Day 1: Newport Beach

Cam was in Denver for training for his new job & his company flew him out to California for the weekend to be with us. After the wedding in San Diego that morning, we went to Newport Beach for a couple of hours in the afternoon before the reception started later that evening.

Day 3: Disneyland with Cam

Since Cam was only there for the weekend, we had to pack it all in. Disneyland was really fun! We ended up going to California Adventure with Cade & spent time going to meet Lightning McQueen & Mater, went on the Monster's Inc. ride, wend to the Playhouse Disney Show, went to the meet Dude Crush the turtle from Nemo, went on all the Bugs Life rides & splash pad. It was a fun filled day & loved spending our money on $9 hamburgers for lunch!

Cade met Woody & didn't know what to do. He froze and just let Woody hug him as he melted into him. I think he was surprised at how big Woody was. It made me laugh.

We roasted hotdogs & marshmellows at the beach. It was so pretty to be there for the sunset. We loved going to the beach!

We had a really fun day at Disneyland with my family. Cade went on the Dumbo ride with Grandma & Grandpa, rode the carosel, watched 2 parades, went on the teacups, small world ride, rode the pirate ship, watched the Fantasmic Show & fireworks.

Cade fell asleep right before the Pixar Parade & I had to wake him up to see it. I felt bad because he was so tired.

Bear Lake

We went up to Bear Lake for my Father-in-law's 60th Birthday! We had such a great time. Spent time boating, playing on the beach, fishing at Tony Grove, & we also went to a Pickleville Play! It was so much fun spending time with everyone, even though it was a short weekend trip!

Mae was blessed at church on July 4th. Cameron gave a beautiful blessing & blessed her with so many wonderful things. She is such an incredible addition to our family and brings a sweet spirit into our home. She was named after my grandma, Donna May, and she wore the blessing dress that I was blessed in as a baby. It was a neat day all around. We love having this girl!

Baby Mae Sophia Morgan arrived on Wednesday May 19th at 7:05pm weighing in at 8lbs 11oz and 21 inches long! My water broke at about 3:35am that morning, so we headed into the hospital. I wasn't having any contractions or anything so it seemed to be very relaxed at first. I started getting some contractions that were about 10 minutes apart or so. But they wanted to get my labor moving along so they gave me oxytocin, a drug to make you start contractions.

At about 9:30am, my doctor came in to see me and was only dilated to a 1+ . So basically I hadn't changed anything from my docs appointment on Monday (2 days prior). They kept upping my dosage & the next time they checked me I was a 2. The next time around 2pm my doc came back and I was a 3. Let me remind you that during this entire time, my body was having contractions every 2 minutes - which is pretty taxing. The contractions started hurting really bad at this point, so I got my epidural. I was checked at 5:00pm again and progressed to a 4 with 100% effacement.

This whole thing was taking sooooo long. We had thought our little girl would have been there much earlier. It apparently wasn't in the plan. My doctor came back again around 6pm and I finally progressed to a 9! Yay! He said he'd be back in about and hour and I'd be totally ready. The end was in sight! Sure enough I was ready & pushed 3 times & she was totally out at 7:05pm!

What a relief & a blessing to have our little girl! Mae is so sweet & just sleeps a whole lot at this point. She has a really long big toes! The doctor said it's the longest that he's ever seen on a new baby. We don't know where she got them because my toes are like kid toes!

Cade is adjusting little by little. My mom bought him a shirt that says BIG BROTHER on it. He wore that to the hospital that night. He is slowly showing more interest in Mae & making sure she is okay. He doesn't like it when she cries & when I try to feed her, he wants to snuggle me.

I was allowed to eat a yogurt! I was so hungry so anything helped. All I wanted was Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Is that really too much to ask for a girl in labor?

Arizona Trip/Wedding

My cousin Carlie got married down in Arizona on April 24th. We went down & was able to enjoy the nice weather! Swimming, feeding the ducks, and enjoying the celebration. I ventured down there being 36 weeks pregnant & had fears about going into labor, but that didn't happen. Thank goodness!

The first day down there was my birthday. I went and got pedicures with my Mom, Bekah & Jill. We went to lunch after at Paradise Cafe. Ummm. It was so nice to spend time with my two great friends! I had a blast.

So we decided it was time to potty train Cade. We did Lora Jensen's 3 Day Potty Training Method and...it worked! It's been a week & Cade is potty trained! It's been a few accidents here and there, but hopefully that will come here pretty soon.

Cade & his cousins had an Easter Egg Hunt the weekend before Easter (because it was nice weather). He really enjoys hanging out with the kids! He also got an Easter basket from the 'Easter Bunny'.

Disneyland & the Beach

Cade and I took a trip out to California a couple of weeks ago. We went swimming, went to the beach to see the sunset, and went to Disneyland. The trip was very inexpensive thanks to all my hook-ups! All we had to pay for was rental car & food! Not a bad deal. It was so fun seeing Cade excited about everything. We were able to ride a ton of rides & went to the Playhouse Disney Show and the Pixar Parade. He loved them all! It's different when you go to an amusement park and all your thoughts are geared to, "what will Cade like?" I liked that change of thought! We had a blast!

Tony Grove Lake

We went up to Tony Grove (up Logan canyon) with Cam's family at the end of July. We did some fishing, canoeing, and of course some camping. It was really fun to get away for a couple of days and especially fun that I caught my very 1st fish & I was able to see Cam actually catch a fish. He's been claiming he's a fisherman even before we were married & I've never seen him catch a fish, EVER. But this trip was it, he finally caught one while I was there!

New York Trip

Our trip to NY was a fabulous time! Our first day we went to Niagara Falls. That was an amazing view!

The next couple of days we visited Palmyra, NY with all of the church sites out there - The Hill Cumorah, Smith Farm, Sacred Grove, Peter Whittmer Farm. And also got to attend the wonderful production of The Hill Cumorah Pagaent. Before the pagaent even started, Cade was entertaining a bunch of girls. He was having so much fun! He's already started...

This last picture was the view from the lake house that we stayed in. We were staying on a bay of Lake Ontario. That was beautiful too!

My Grandpa, James Pershing, passed away last Wednesday evening. He was known as 'Beezer' for most of his life. He lived a great life, almost 91 years old. He was a very educated, smart man and had many accomplishments throughout his life. He was always concerned for others & how they were doing. I remember many hikes with Grandpa up to Castle Rock right behind his house. He would also play the "You'll Never get-a-way" game with us. But one very recent memory I have of my Grandpa is him playing with Cade. One Sunday that he came over for dinner, Cade spent quite awhile playing cars, reading books, playing catch, etc... It was very sweet & I know that my Grandpa really enjoyed that. He hadn't laughed that hard for a long time. Cade just started to say Beezer also. I love you and I'll miss you Grandpa Beez!

Cam's Big 30th B-day in Moab

We went on a trip with Cam's family down to Moab for the weekend. It was so much fun! We got down there on Friday evening and went out to a Birthday dinner for Cameron at the Moab Brewery. Really good steak & the ribs were fabulous. Then the next morning we went mountain biking through the slick rock. Maama & Papa were nice enough to hang out with Cade while the kids went on the bike trail. Way fun! This was the first time that I really had mountain biked. I really liked it, but was way tired by the end (to say the least). Suprisingly I wasn't sore in my legs, only my behind.

Later that afternoon we went to the Arches National Park. It was so beautiful. We hiked up to the Delicate Arch at sunset. What a site!

Coloring Easter Eggs

This was the first time we tried coloring eggs with Caders. At first I had him color on the white eggs with the white crayon. That didn't keep him entertained for very long. Then we starting to dye them & disaster broke loose. Cade wanted to hold the spoons with the dye - big mistake, color was everywhere. Then I tried to divert his attention to sticking stickers on the eggs. That lasted about 1 minute max. Then while I was trying to dye other eggs, he got his hands on his own eggs & started smashing them into the counter because he thought they were balls. We had a lot of crunched eggs at the conclusion of the activity.

These are the eggs that Cameron did if you couldn't tell. He made a missionary egg for my brother Alex on a mission & Nemo because Cade is OBSESSED with Nemo, he loves Nemo, Dory & Dude!

Easter Egg Hunts

Two of my cute neighbors put on an Easter Egg Hunt for playgroup! The kids had a blast. I was babysitting our friends' little girl, Avery, who is about 2 months younger than Cade. I must say, having 2 kids the same age is a little tiring when you are at an event like this. I was wiped out at the end of the day & it wasn't even that long that of an Egg Hunt!

They both were too young to understand what was going on, so trying to get them to get the eggs & put them in their baskets was a chore. They both seemed more interested in the 'bigger' kids, than the eggs. Cade found a basketball egg & he was set for the rest of the day!

Avery got the concept of carrying the baskets...
and Cade did not.

We gone Fishin'

Last Saturday, we decided to venture out despite the yucky weather. We went fishing up in Bountiful with Jamie, Trav, Jared (Jill's boyfriend), and his roommate. We had fun & it really didn't rain too much, just a little drizzle. Cade had a great time running around. He loves getting out. To say the least, we didn't catch any fish. Oh well, try again next time!

18 months old

We had Cade's 18 month check up Wednesday. He is in the 75th percentile for height & weight. He is healthy, but the doctor heard a heart murmur. We have an appointment to see a pediatric cardiologist up at Primary Children's. We can't get in until May. So we'll see what we find out. Hopefully it is nothing too serious.

Anyway, I also wanted to post about all the things Cade loves at 18 months.

Says lots and lots of words & phrases. (My favorite is 'Snuddle Mommy'. -snuggle mommy)
Run in place, dance to music.
Knows all the animals & what noises they make.
Can play catch, peek-a-boo.
Drawing basketballs, snakes, baseballs, happy faces, etc...
Can count to 10 skipping 4 & 5 because he can't say the 'f' sound.

What a great little boy! I love him so much. He is so well behaved. He sleeps and eats well. I am so blessed to have him. I am grateful to be his mother!

A Very Rare Occasion...

My brother Garrett wrestles for Jordan High. This by far is a very tough & gutsy sport. Garrett wrestled for the Region Championship last night for his weight class of 189 pounds and won! Cade had a Merry Christmas. The highlight was a wooden fire truck my grandpa Martin made. He made some of it using a broken chair from my Great Grandma JJ. It is pretty cool - almost too cool for Cade to be playing with. He isn't quite tall enough to sit and ride on it yet, but he really likes pushing it around like a lawn mower.

In November, our family went out to California. We went to welcome my cousin back from his mission, but also a good excuse to get to the coast. These pictures were taken at Laguna Beach. It was fun to take Cade to the beach for the first time. He wasn't quite sure about the waves at first. But after a while he started tapping his toes in the sand and the little puddles. We went and saw little tide pooles and there was the huge orange star fish in one. It was really pretty. If you looked in one of these tide pooles closely you could see little tiny things moving. I thought it was really cool.

...And this tag is 6 unspectacular quirks about me that make me, Me.

1. You know how most people after a meal like to put in a mint or piece of gum. Not me, I like to savor the taste of the yummy food I just had for awhile. The mint or piece of gum don't come until awhile later for me.

2. I can wiggle my ears without touching them with my hands. Something I've considered to be a really cool talent that sets me apart from most since I was young.

3. I HAVE to have pajamas on to go to sleep. I don't like when I am laying on my side and my knees touch skin to skin. I have to have jammie pants on so that doen't occur. Otherwise it bugs me too much.

4. I can't ever get a good clean shave on my legs. Usually I miss multiple spots when I shave. My ankles & knees, especially my knees, are hard to get places for me. Even when I go slow & think I've done a good job - I ALWAYS find a 'missed' spot! I don't get it.

5. After I shower & get ready (hair, make up, etc), I hate getting wet or dirty right after. I need to stay clean & dry for at least a day. For instance, if I showered in the morning during the summer, I don't want to go swimming later that afternoon. It's always been the case for me!

6. I am very aware of germs on my hands. I am washing them quite often. I don't think it's excessive, it's necessary! (This one is kind of lame, I didn't know what to put)

The State Fair

Cam and I went to the State Fair with Cam's sisters, their guys, & without Cade! It was kind of nice to be kid-less I must say. Here are some pics from the evening. I was very insistent on getting our pictures taken in the 'fruit heads'. Aren't we cute? See Cam, it's not that bad - we look cute.

There was an awesome tiger show that we went to. There were 7 tigers in this cage arena performing for us & there was a trainer in the cage walking around petting them like they were house cats. That was neat.

We also went around and saw the livestock - cows, pigs, rabbits, sheep. The fair wouldn't be the fair without the animals!

The Petting Zoo

Cade and I met up with some friends for a playgroup at the Gardner Village Petting Zoo. It was so much fun. Cade loved the animals and really was the last kid from our group to leave the animals. He made friends with the little goats.

Then we went and walked around to the different shops and stopped by bakery and had a yummy donut! We might have to make this a tradition.

Really Easy Peach Cobbler

There have been a few requests for me to post my recipe for peach cobbler. So here you go!

2 cans of peaches
1 box of white or yellow cake mix
1/2 cup of butter (4 oz)

Pour all contents of cans of peaches in 9x13 pan. Put cake mix powder (don't follow instructions on cake mix box) on top of the peaches and then cut thin slices of butter and evenly place over cake mix. You don't have to use all the butter, just as much as you would like.

Cook on 350 degrees for about 40 minutes or until top is lightly browned.

*Also, you can replace the peaches for cherry or blueberry pie filling. Also one can of pinnapple chunks & one can of cherry pie filling is good too!

To my sweet Grandma...Donna May

Last week we went and visited my grandparents in Colorado. It was nice because we were able to fly (instead of the long drive with an infant). It was our first time traveling with a baby and of course Cade's first flight experience as well. Everything went really smooth. I was surprised.

I guess the whole point of us going out there was to visit my Grandma Donna who had been sick for years. Cameron really wanted to see her before she passed away. We were so glad to go and spend time with them and especially that they were able to see Cade. It's amazing what a baby can do to help lift spirits.

As we said our goodbye's last Sunday, it was very hard. We all knew that would be the last time we would see my Grandma before she passed and...

Yesterday my Grandma did pass away. It was still hard news to hear even though it was expected and just weird to think she won't be there anymore. She was able to stop suffering and join her Heavenly Father again.

I am so grateful that we were able to spend those precious moments with my Grandma last week. Especially the moments she spent with Cade.

A Tribute to My Grandma Donna: She was THE sweetest lady. She didn't have a mean bone in her body. She was always serving others. She was such a good example to all of us. She had such a strong testimony that was always present in her actions.

Grandma, I will miss you so much & will always remember your beauty both inside and out. You will always have a special place in my heart & I will cherish the memories we've had forever. I love you.

Jamie's Wedding

Jamie & Travis got married on August 1st (Cam's little sister). They are so happy & so in love. The day was very beautiful & fun! Check out my little man in his cute tuxedo (thanks to Britt - it was perfect)! Cade's little wrists were too chubby that we couldn't button the sleeves or the top button on the collar. This was the first time we had met Travis' family. They are such wonderful people and are glad that they are a part of our family now.

Cade's First Big Swim

On the 24th of July we decided to take Cade to Cottonwood Heights to go swimming. This was the first time he had been to the 'big' pool. We couldn't decide if he liked it at first. It was pretty crowded and I think he was a little overwhelmed by trying to take it all in. He didn't like the kiddie area with all the waterfalls, etc... I think he liked the being out in the open a little more. As you can see below in one of the pictures, when Cam would lay him on his back, he would shut his eyes and wouldn't move. Almost like he was playing dead. That was pretty funny!

I also thought it would be nice to get some color & chose not to put sunscreen on (we were only there for an hour or so). Big mistake - my shoulders and back got fried & was hurting for at least a few days. I got what I deserved.

That night we met friends down at the Spaghetti Factory & afterwards went to Liberty Park to watch fireworks. Cade hadn't seen a 'real' display of fireworks until that night. He liked them for about 2 minutes because he was trying to figure out what was going on, then got sick of them very fast. Plus he was extremely tired because hours past bed time really never goes very well.

All in all it was a nice holiday & glad that we spent it together!

Meal time got a little on the creative side when Cam took over the other day. Cade was pretty distracted and Cameron was getting a little impatient. I walked into the room and I found Cade's face painted with sweet potatoes and his baby food jars shoved onto his little hands. Cade was honestly loving it because Mommy never does anything that COOL. It was another instrument for Cade to bang around. My kid is a piece of moving artwork according to Cam & this piece was called Jar Hands.

Happy Fourth

On the 4th we went on a hike up Millcreek Canyon with my brother Chris, his wife Michelle, my sister Loren, and her husband Matt. We went on the hike to Dog Lake (at the very top of Millcreek). It was about a 3 mile round trip hike & took us about 3+ hours or so. It was nice to get out and be active. Cade really enjoyed being in his new backpack. He fell asleep on the ride up for about 30 minutes.

After that we went to a bbq over to the Poole's & had a little fireworks display for the kids. Cade liked the fireworks, but was so tired by the time the 'real' fireworks were supposed to start we just took him home and put him to bed. I was interested to see how he would react to the loud 'booms'. That didn't happen, so we'll have to wait until next year. Anyway, Cam & I got the ladder out, climbed up on our roof and watched the Sugarhouse fireworks from there. I was soooooo scared to get off the roof, but we made it down without any incident!

Cousins in town

My brother Brian, his wife Lisa, and his family were in town during the week of the wedding. They live in Oklahoma, so visits don't happen too often. It was so nice to see them.

My brother Chris and Michelle got married back on May 29th. It was a beautiful wedding. They are so happy & crazy in love! It was rainy on the morning of the wedding, but had stopped when they came out of the temple. Even though It wasn't raining it still was pretty chilly especially when the wind started blowing!

Cade & I were snuggling to try to stay warm. Cade was a little trooper the whole entire day! He really is such a good baby! He's my favorite.

Summer Goals, could you do it too?!

Yesterday Cam & I decided that we wanted to make it a goal to not watch TV for the summer. The terms, we would still be able to watch movies if we wanted, but as for everyday 'junk' TV, not allowed. We kind of took it to a different level, we had our Dish Network subscription frozen! The reason for this insanity - we wanted to spend more quality time together, wanted to be more involved in our community, and to not waste our time as much & find other ways to keep us 'busy'.

Day one went as follows... we sat in the same room last night. Communication was great & I had a lot to talk about while I was knitting & Cam was trying to read. It's day two & so far so good. This evening we went on a walk as a family & then Cam resorted to a movie tonight, but I think that is part of the withdraws from going cold turkey on the TV cut off.

We challenge you to NO TV watching!

9 month check up

My kid is a tank! At his 9 month check up he was in the 90% for height coming in at 29 3/4". For weight he was in the 75% at 22 pounds 2 ounces. He is a healthy little boy & has developed my bicep muscles to say the least. Really, I have some nice guns now!This is Cade with Aunt Jill!

Cam's Birthday

So, before I get started, I've been a little slacking on the whole blogging thing! Sorry for those of you that have checked our site on a regular basis, there hasn't been anything new to look at.

Brace yourselves, because I am ready to update you on what's been happening in our lives. Not a ton, but there have been a few things... like Cameron turning 29!

Wowsers! My hubby is closer to 30 than he's ever been. Crazy! His birthday was on June 5th & we had a barbeque party over at our house to celebrate with my family & his. All said and done there were 20 of us all together (including the significant others). Thank goodness for nice weather so we could all fit in the backyard. Otherwise it would have been a tight squeeze in our little house.

I had to include a picture of Cade who happens to be in my sister Loren's arms!

First Haircut

Cade got his first haircut last week! Very monumental. Cam finally had had enough of the uneven 'woowie' hair and plopped Cade in the sink and said, "We're doing this!" Up until that point, I really didn't want to because he finally started to grow some hair even though it was uneven and all over the place.

This is the beginning of the cut. I tried to use a comb and scissors. I had seen my mom cut my brothers hair. Easy enough.

Yeah right, Cade was the biggest wiggle worm I've ever seen! He was all over the place!

That ended me trying to cut it. Cam pulled out the clippers. He liked it at first.

Then...the sad faces started! I love these pictures!

By the end, he was super happy to be done!

His Choice

Little Cade has been a great eater ever since he was born. Nursing is still going well. No issues, etc... And now that he is on solids, he has been doing great. Eating like a champ! He's loved everything I've given him, even the not so good 'peas', 'green beans', etc...

The exception came the other day when he figured out that he now has his own CHOICE on what goes into his mouth! He's started spitting out most everything that I give him at least once. What a MESS!

I was feeding him Apples & Blueberries and the following was the end result. Thanks to my sweet all grown up boy who now makes CHOICES! (Is he really old enough for this yet? Apparently. And not pictured, my lovely splattered shirt!!!)

It's been so nice to have the warm weather (excluding today). We went to the park a couple of weeks ago & decided that it would be nice to have the dogs pull us around the park. The picture isn't that big, so let me explain. Cam and I are on long boards, holding onto the stroller with Cade in it & the dogs pulling ALL of us! Pretty clever.
Aunt Stacey is already teaching him to be athletic at a young age!

Cool Dude Cade

My little brother, Alex, found these sunglasses that he wore when he was a little kid, fixed them, and gave them to Cade. What a little stud! It was definetly a cute combination with the hat I knitted for him. Sidenote: I started going to a knitting group in my neighborhood and learned how to make baby beanies. This was my first project and I had to make him wear it before it go too warm! I think he looks like a little cool dude! The funny thing about it was, that when he had them on, he really never wanted to swipe at them to try to get them off. He left them on like it was no big deal!

April Fools! They got me...

On April 1st, yes a little late posting this, I came home from running errands and this is what I found. For those who can't tell what this is, it's yarn. If you look close, there is grass in the background. Which means there was yarn strung across my backyard. My two cute dogs, really NOT cute when I realized what they had done, found my bag of new yarn and somehow plotted together to take it out of the house into the backyard.
By the looks of the picture, I know they had a wonderful time playing while I was gone! They just wanted to show me how much fun I missed out on. What nice doggies. Darn them!

A Pro Sitter Upper

Cade is really great at sitting up now! He's been up to it for about 3 weeks. I can tell he feels like he is such a big boy now and wants to do it any chance he gets! It's just fun to see how fast he is growing. There is always something new. From the pictures you can see he loves reading books. Well more like eating them... I don't know what that means.

As for rolling over, he wants nothing to do with it. If I push him over, he's fine and seems to like it somewhat. But he has no desire to take on the task himself. He likes staying put and is content with it. At his 6 month check-up the doctor asked if he rolled over either front to back or back to front at least twice? That is exactly what he has done front to back - twice, I think by accident. The doctor said he wasn't worried about his development at all. Cade will eventually do it. I just wonder when.

Easter at a Glance

Easter was a nice day. We ate dinner with my parents and afterwards Grandma Cindy had an Easter Egg Hunt for all the grandkids. Cade included. Cade really just enjoyed eating his bright colored plastic eggs more than anything and playing with cousin Cambrie.

After that we went to the Morgan's for their annual Easter Egg Hunt three-legged-race style. Cam and I were doing good until I took a tumble down the sand hill in the backyard. The tumble occurred because Cam and Stacey were going for the same egg, he forgot that I was attached to him, lunged for the egg, and then I went a tumbling down. It was all a lot of fun and mostly really nice to spend time with family!

Kinder Musik

My sister Cammy teaches Kinder Musik. Every Wednesday, Cade and I drive down to go to her Mommy & Me class. It is so much fun! Cade especially loves it. He loves going to see the other kids. He seems so interested in what is going on. It's a class that teaches you as the parent, how to teach your child developmental skills through music. We sing a hello song every week & Cade loves it. When I sing it at home, he gets a huge smile on his face - like it is something that he recognizes. It really is neat to see him grow and develop. There is something new every day.

These are Cammy's two youngest girls. Cammy teaches the class with Cambrie. Chloe likes to come down and hang out while the class is going on. In the picture Chloe is holding Cambrie. Aren't they the most adorable girls? They are so sweet and it's fun to see their family on a regular basis!

First Rice Cereal Experience

Here is the first time that Cade tried rice cereal. It went pretty well. At first he started to reach and grab for the spoon because he thought it was a toy. By the end he got the hang of it. For the most part.

He definitely is a satiated boy! Most of it ended up on his face and bib!

4 month check up

Before I forget, I've been wanting to post this for a while. At Cade's 4 month appointment he was 15 pounds 7 oz. and was 26 inches tall. For both categories he was in the 85th percentile in comparison to other babies his age. It's so fun to see how much he is growing and developing. He truly is a joy and we are so blessed to have him.

He has been such a grabber lately. He's figured out how his fingers and hands work - for the most part and since he has it figured out that's all he does.

He just found his feet yesterday. I was changing his diaper and he was concentrating so hard to touch his left hand to his right foot. He got it a couple of different times! I'm a very proud mommy.

It's Only Just Begun...

At first glance, you might think Cam wet his pants. Then you might be thinking if he wet himself, why would he be posing for the camera? This little incident happened because of little Cade. We were out to dinner Saturday night and Cam was holding Cade. Little eyes were interested in the bright red straw in Daddy's full glass of root beer. Little hands got a hold of the bright red straw and then two little fingers grabbed the edge of the glass knocking the whole thing onto Cam's lap. To say the least we didn't think that we had to worry about things like this yet. Wrong. This is just the beginning of many accidents to come, I am sure of it!

Well, here goes. I've thought about what I wanted to write about and it's taken me a while to figure it out.

1. I'm a major Animal lover...

It hasn't always been this way either. I never grew up with animals or pets. When I married Cameron he kept bugging me to get a dog. I was strong for about 2 years and finally gave in to my cute hubby. Look at us now - 2 big dogs. I absolutely love animals and couldn't imagine life without them. I think that they have such wonderful personalities and they get so excited to see you no matter what. Not only do I love dogs, but really all animals. Thanks for rubbing off on me in a good way!

2. I love the sweets...

I can't ever get enough sweets. I love brownies, cookies, cake, candy, ice cream etc, etc... I really enjoy baking when I take the time. The key with sweets is in moderation. A little bit is okay.

3. I love doing hair...

It's a talent that I haven't done a lot with lately, but would love to. Back in High school I used to do my hair for all the dances plus I did a lot of my friends hair as well. When my sister would go to her high school dances, I would do her and her friend's hair. When my sister got married, I did her hair. I also did my hair for my bridal pictures when I got married. In everyday life, the hair isn't elaborate at all. But for those special occasions I like to get hair creative.

4. I'm a movie sleeper...

So being married to Cameron, a major movie buff, we are always going/renting movies. He absolutely loves watching movies. As for me, not so much. If it not a subject matter that doesn't spark my interest, like the romantic comedy, I have a hard time staying awake. So, if I happen to stay awake, it must be a good movie! It gets the rating of 2 thumbs up!

5. I am such a home body...

Many people already know this, but I love being at home. Many times I would rather stay home than go out. So with the addition of Cade, I haven't had a hard transition from working full time to being a full time stay at home mom. I rather enjoy it!

6. I have magic powers...

Cam calls it my magic powers. It's almost something similar to a photographic memory. I remember where 'things' are. In the house I can remember where even the littlest things are placed like a safety pin. My mind just remembers where things are. Common questions from Cam - "where is my wallet, keys, cell phone, etc..." I am getting really good at those especially. It is a very rare occasion that I don't know where things are. I just know.

He's getting sooooo Big

The Closest Encounter - This is the closest that Cade has come to the dogs, thanks to Daddy! I had to post it because it was so cute.

King Cade - Cam decided to wrap Cade's blanky around his head while he sat in his Bumbo and called him King Cade. Check out the chubby cheeks! Pretty funny!

Getting stronger - Cade is starting to push himself up more and more when he is on his belly. The other day he rolled to his back from his belly. It happened so fast, I don't think he knew what was going on!

My mom and I were shopping at Babies R Us not expecting to get pictures taken that night. The lady from the Kiddie Kandid's studio came and asked us if we wanted to fill a spot because they were slow. I said sure. Luckily he was in a cute outfit (thanks to Alana). I fed Cade, then we went over and he started smiling a bunch. Mind you, he was only 8 weeks old at the time. The lady kept letting all these smiles pass before she snapped this one. I am glad she waited for the 'perfect' picture because it ended up being so cute. I couldn't believe that we got so lucky and got him captured like he is. He looks like he has it already figured out and knows it all!

Dusty & Moab

These are our two wonderful boxer doggies. They are in love and enjoy cuddling. Dusty is our male, and Mo (short for Moab) is our female. They will be turning 4 this year.

They had a litter of 4 puppies a couple of years ago, afterwhich we decided to fix Mo. We still keep in contact with one of the puppies - Diesel (owned by our good friends Tommy & Jessica Weyerts).

Cade's First Christmas

Cade was so fun yesterday! He is only 3 months old and is growing so fast! We can't even believe it. He is growing like a weed. We tried on a 6-9 month outfit on him and it fit! Pulling it out of the box I thought to myself this is really big and won't fit him for awhile. I was really wrong, it fit him the next minute.

He got some really cute things for his first Christmas! He got a rocking horse from Grandma & Grandpa Morgan. Really cute. He loved grabbing onto the hair. Great Grandpa Steele made him a wooden truck, which is so neat. I can't wait until he can play with it. He also looked really cute in his 'Santa' snowsuit.

Wow! We are a family of 3. I still find myself sometimes shocked that we have a baby. Cade is wonderful little dude and he is such a blessing in our lives!
